Children‘s ICU at St. Joseph Hospital
Beatrix Schmidt, chief physician of pediatrics at St. Joseph Hospital, examines eight-and-a-half-month-old Omran next to his father Ziyad. Omram suffers from a respiratory infection (RSV) and is being treated with non-invasive breathing support (CPAP) on the children‘s ICU. The children’s clinic at St. Joseph Hospital is heavily overloaded due to a wave of infections. The situation is also difficult at other children’s hospitals in Berlin.
